Using the latest technology to keep people safe

Technology

Hengoed Court has invested in a range of technology aimed to increase safety and quality of life for residents.

Facilities - Technology

The technology we use is designed to:

      • Offer safer and more secure living
      • Provide people with more privacy and dignity
      • Reassure family members about the level and quality of care

Nurse Call Systems

Loop SystemsWe provide a nurse call systems that alerts our staff whoever they happen to be within the home, the system also uses a tannoy system to call relevant staff as required.  At Hengoed Court we also provide infra red sensors in each bedroom which can alert staff when a resident is out of bed and therefore respond per their individual care plan. Loop systems are provided in our lounges for residents who are hearing impaired.

Wifi

Facilities - Technology, Support to use SkypeWifi is provided for residents who wish to access the internet or email. Some of our residents are already making use of ‘Skype’ for video chats with their family and friends.  If residents require support in using the internet, Skype or emails we can provide expertise and help with patience and at a level appropriate for each resident.

Communication Aids

For residents that require additional communication aids we work in partnership with a variety of services to provide appropriate equipment.  If you think your family member may need an assessment or a particular piece of equipment please do approach our care home managers.

Fire Safety

The safety of our residents has always been paramount and we invest heavily without compromise on the technology we provide.  Hengoed Court is possibly the first residential care home in Wales to invest in an automatic fire sprinkler system for the protection of our residents. As the development has expanded over the years this investment has continued with all areas fully protected with a system that is recognised throughout the World as the most effective form of protection against fire.
